It’s not unusual to occasionally lose track of your weight-loss program and slip back into old patterns of unhealthy eating and minimal exercise. In fact, given how complicated life can be, you should expect mistakes to happen and have a plan in place to recover when slip-ups occur. It takes time and regular reinforcement for your new healthy behaviors to become habits.

Use these tips to help you deal with occasional weight-loss setbacks:

§ Take charge. Accept responsibility for your own behavior. Only you can help yourself lose weight. You can get yourself back on track.

§ Buy time. If you’re tempted to keep indulging, tell yourself you just need a short break. Then wait a few minutes and see if the desire passes. Try distracting yourself from your urge to eat — call a friend or take the dog for a walk. If the craving still doesn’t pass, review your goals and engage in a fun, mood-elevating activity.

§ Be gentle with yourself. Practice self-forgiveness. Think “OK, I’ve slipped but I’m going to get on track with eating and exercise now.” Try not to think of your slip-up as a catastrophe. Remember that mistakes happen and that each day is a chance to start anew.

§ Ask for and accept help. Accepting help from others isn’t a sign of weakness, nor does it mean that you’re failing. Asking for help is a sign of good judgment, not weakness. You need support from others to keep you on track when you have difficult days. Venting can help you get back to your healthy plan.

§ Work out your guilt and frustration with exercise. Take a walk or go for a swim. But keep your exercise and activity upbeat. Use it to elevate your mood and recommit to your goals. Never use it as punishment for a lapse.

§ Problem-solve as you go. Instead of criticizing yourself, clearly identify the problem, and then create a list of possible solutions. Try a solution. If it works, you’ve got a strategy for preventing another lapse. If it doesn’t, try the next solution and keep trying until you find one that works.

§ Recommit to your goals. Review your weight-loss goals and make certain they’re still realistic. Remember, healthy weight loss comes slowly — 1 or 2 pounds a week. Continue to focus on healthy goals such as having a healthy breakfast, going for a walk or bringing a healthy snack to work.

What if you do experience a weight-loss setback? Although relapses are disappointing, they can help you learn to keep your goals realistic, what high-risk situations to avoid or that certain strategies don’t work for you. Above all, realize that you’re not a failure. Reverting to old behaviors doesn’t mean that all hope is lost. It just means that you need to recharge your motivation, recommit to your program and return to healthy behaviors.

Everybody loves a good massage. Massages relax us, relieve stress, decrease the effects of depression and even help our bodies recover from physical activities or injuries. Massage helps us both physically and mentally but did you know massage therapy can also help you lose weight both directly and indirectly?

Massage can directly influence your ability to lose weight. Massage can improve circulation and the supply of nutrition to the muscles. The increased blood flow helps the muscles grow and burn more calories. According to new research and studies, massage is thought to be able to burst the fat capsule in subcutaneous tissue so the fat exudes and becomes absorbed. This can also help with cellulite.

When massage therapy activates your body’s parasympathetic nervous system, it counteracts your body’s negative response to stress, relaxing muscle tension and allowing your heart rate, blood pressure and circulation to return to normal. The following is a list of physical benefits from massage therapy:

• Relieves stress and chronic pain
• Aids in relaxation
• Relieves muscle tension and stiffness
• Alleviates discomfort during pregnancy
• Facilitates faster healing of strained muscles and sprained ligaments
• Reduces pain and swelling
• Prevents the formation of excessive scar tissue
• Reduces muscle spasms
• Provides greater joint flexibility and range of motion
• Enhances athletic performance
• Promotes deeper and easier breathing
• Improves circulation of blood and movement of lymph fluids
• Reduces blood pressure
• Relieves tension-related headaches and effects of eye-strain
• Improves skin tone
• Improves posture
• Strengthens the immune system
• Improves nerve function
• Treats musculoskeletal problems

The mental and emotional benefits are just as numerous:

• Promotes a relaxed state of mental alertness
• Improves sleep performance and sleep patterns
• Relieves mental stress
• Improves ability to monitor stress signals
• Enhances capacity for calm thinking and creativity
• Satisfies needs for caring nurturing touch
• Fosters a feeling of well-being
• Reduces levels of anxiety
• Promotes body awareness
• Promotes greater creative expression
• Increases awareness of mind-body connection

Massage therapy also helps you become more aware of your body and your unconsciously held tensions. As you become more aware of your body, you will begin to recognize tension as it builds during the day so that you can consciously release it before it can have a negative effect on your body.

We have all heard that we must eat right and exercise to lose weight. Exercise is great for cardiovascular health and maintaining weight loss, but has little to do with losing weight.

Eliminating foods containing carbohydrates and sugars from the diet allows the body to go into a fat burning state known as ketosis. When the body goes into ketosis stored body fat is broken down and burned off at rapid rate while decreasing hunger and cravings at the same time.

At Dramatic Weight Loss Center, Dr. Mansfield has devised a weight loss program that results in fat burning. Patients at Dramatic Weight Loss Center can lose up to7 pounds per week without doing any exercise.

Exercising is not required for weight loss on his program. Dr. Mansfield’s patients are losing weight dramatically by avoiding carbohydrates. When carbohydrates are eliminated for 2 to 3 days the body goes into ketosis because it is forced to burn fat for energy.

Today’s article provides information about the two forms of sleep apnea and their symptoms.

There are two types of sleep apnea: Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and the more dangerous Central Sleep Apnea (CSA). Most of the time, patients do not realize they have sleep apnea until a family member tells them that they snore or seem to have labored breathing while sleeping.

Snoring is a warning sign for sleep apnea. The tongue and throat become relaxed during sleep obstructing the airway. Treatment consists of consulting with a Sleep Specialist. They sometimes advise Constant Positive Air Pressure (CPAP) for OSA and a Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP) for CSA.

The most common OSA symptoms include sleepiness or fatigue, dry mouth, headaches in the morning, trouble concentrating or forgetfulness, night sweats, restlessness during sleep, and sudden awakenings with gasping or choking as well as snoring.

With Central Sleep Apnea, breathing is disrupted regularly during sleep. CSA is not affected by obesity. In some cases having a large neck can increase the risk for OSA.

Often times, neck size can be reduced with weight loss.

Not recognizing sleep apnea may result in many possible health problems including:

· Diabetes

· Stroke

· High blood pressure

· Heart failure, heart attacks

· Depression

Patients who are overweight and think they have sleep apnea can call Dramatic Weight Loss Center at 770-394-9991 or go to dramaticweightloss.com to request the DWL staff contact you for your free consultation.

Carbohydrates make up the biggest component of the American diet and are the primary fuel source for many vital organs.

We hear it over and over again:

“I don’t know what the matter with me is. Sometimes, when it comes to eating, I’m fine, totally in control. Then, at other times, I start to eat and, no matter how hard I try and no matter how much I want to control myself, I just can’t. It’s as if something takes hold of me and I just can’t keep from eating.”

Does this sound like someone you know? If so, they may be addicted to carbohydrates and, if they are, you have come to the right Place. We will share what we have learned about the insulin imbalance that may be causing them to lose control, why it is not their fault, and best of all, what they can do about it.

We know. We have been there and we have found the way out – for good.

For most of our lives, we endured the pain, shame, and self-blame of being carbohydrate addicted. We failed on diet after diet; blaming ourselves, feeling like failures, miserable, frustrated and at times, hopeless. Yet somewhere, deep inside, we always believed there was a way out and, miracle of miracles, we found it.

Without struggle and without deprivation I have reached my goal weight. More importantly, I have maintained that weight loss for over twelve years and, now in perfect health, I live without cravings, without weighing or measuring food, and without the fear that I will ever gain the weight back (and that’s the greatest gift of all.)

This website is dedicated to sharing all that we have learned and all we have yet to learn in the years to come. May it bring you the answers you seek, the encouragement and motivation you may need, and the joy and peace of mind you deserve.

Beyond the physical freedom that awaits you, may you come to truly understand – for the rest of your life – that you are not to blame!

Carbohydrate addiction is not a matter of will power. It is a matter of biology; pure and simple. We know what causes it and we know how to correct it. That’s why we’re here. To share what we have learned and to tell you that, from this moment on, you are never alone again. Please contact Dramatic Weight Loss Center at 770-394-9991 or email us at info@dramaticweightloss.com to schedule your free consultation.

Today, manufacturers are required to provide Ingredient Lists and Nutrition Fact Labels on any packaged food. These labels are your tools in helping you make healthier food choices. Becoming savvy about how to read these labels will help you to make better decisions about foods you buy and prepare.

How to Read the Ingredients List

The Ingredients List will provide you with information on what foods, spices, and possible chemicals make up the food. Ingredients listed on food labels are listed in order by weight. The largest ingredient in the food is listed first and the one in the least amount is listed last. You want to avoid any foods that have fat, oils and sugars (or any derivatives of these ingredients) listed first.

Further, if you never heard of the ingredient or can’t pronounce it, there is a good chance it is a chemical or an unnatural ingredient. Whole foods are best and you should be able to recognize all or most of the ingredients. Below are some examples of ingredients you don’t want listed first on a package label.

Sugar Type Ingredients Fat Type Ingredients

* Sucrose

* Dextrose

* Fructose

* Corn syrup

* High fructose corn syrup

* Molasses

* Honey

* Bleached Flour* * Coconut oil * Cream * Hydrogenated soybean oil * Hydrogenated vegetable oil * Palm oil * Palm kernel oil * Partially hydrogenated soybean oil * Lard

*Although bleached flour isn’t a sugar, it has very little nutritional value and as a result,

the body processes it like a sugar.

How to Read the Nutrition Facts Label

The Nutrition Facts label provides you with more detailed nutritional information about the food or product. Here you will understand how different foods and products stack up against one another so that you can choose healthier options. 1. Serving Size: The serving size tells you what a recommended serving size of the food is. Here are some tips to consider:

* If you aren’t used to measuring or weighing your food, measure your portions until you become comfortable with standard portion sizes.

* If you eat more or less than the recommended serving size, the rest of the information on the label needs to be adjusted to reflect the amount you are consuming. (E.g., if you have 2 times the serving, all nutritional values must be multiplied by 2)

* When comparing foods, ensure you are comparing based on equal portion sizes

2. Calories: Calories provides you with a measure of how much energy you get from a serving of the food. Remember that the number of servings you consume determines the number of calories you actually eat. For instance, if you have two servings of a food, you will have to double the calories listed per serving size to know how many calories you have consumed. A good gauge to understand if something is high in calories is listed below:

* 40 Calories is low

* 100 Calories is moderate

* 400 Calories or more is high

3. Calories from Fat: Fat Calories tells you how many calories of the food are specifically fat calories. Each gram of fat is worth 9 calories. No more than 30% of your calories for the day should come from fat. A good rule of thumb is to eat a maximum of 3 grams of fat or 30 fat calories per 100 calories of food.

4a. Total Fat: Total fat explains how much of both good fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats) and bad fats (saturated and Trans fats) are in the food.

* Optimally, you should have no more than 3 grams of fat per 100 calories

* When comparing products/foods, be sure to compare the same serving sizes and then look at the amounts of total fat, saturated fat and calories in a serving of each product. Choose the one with the least amount of each

4b. Saturated Fat: A ‘bad fat,’ saturated fat is found in foods including butter, margarine, fats from meat and pork, full-fat dairy products, eggs, palm and coconut oils and many fast foods. It is best to avoid or limit foods that have saturated fat. Your daily intake should be no more than 10% of your daily caloric intake (less than 1 gram per 100 calories).

4c. Trans Fat: Also a ‘bad fat,’ Trans Fats are created during cooking and/or processing. These fats are often found in commercially baked products. These fats should be eliminated from your diet. 5a. Cholesterol: A combined number telling you how much of both good (HDLs) and bad cholesterol (LDLs) are in the serving.

* It is best to eat no more than 300mg per day

* When comparing products/foods, first ensure you are comparing the same amount for a serving size and then look at the amounts of cholesterol in each and choose the one with the least amount

5b. Sodium: The amount of sodium in the serving.

* It is best to eat no more than 2,400mg per day.

* When comparing products/foods, first ensure you are comparing the same amount for a serving size and then look at the amounts of sodium in each and choose the one with the least amount

6a. Carbohydrates: The total amount of carbohydrates in the food. It includes simple carbs and sugars, complex carbs and fiber. When foods contain carbohydrates, it is best if those carbohydrates contain some amount of fiber (see dietary fiber).

6b. Dietary Fiber: How much fiber is in a serving of the food. It is found mostly in complex carbohydrates such as whole grains, fruits, vegetables and beans.

* Try to eat between 20 and 35 grams per day

* The higher the fiber content of a product, the lower the sugar content in the food

6c. Sugars: The number of grams of carbohydrates per serving specifically made up of sugar. It is best to have this number low. When looking at total carbohydrates, the closer the sugar gram value is to the total carbohydrate gram value, the less fiber you have in the food, meaning the less satiated you will feel.

7. Protein: How many grams of protein are in a serving. It is always good to maintain a balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats in a meal. If this food doesn’t contain proteins, try to combine it with another food that has protein.

8. % Daily Values: Tells you what percentage of your recommended daily allowance is provided by the serving of food. Note however, it is based on a 2,000 calorie diet. Generally, a value of 5% is considered low and a value of 20% is considered high. If you consume other than 2,000 calories a day to maintain a healthy body weight understand that these percentages may be different. Regardless, it is a good way to compare other products.

9. Vitamins and Minerals: How much of recommended vitamins and minerals are in the serving. You should aim to reach 100% for all required vitamins and minerals. To ensure you are getting your required daily intake, take a multivitamin.

10. Recommended Amounts: The recommended daily amount for each nutrient for both a 2,000 calorie diet and a 2,500 calorie diet. If you need to consume more or less calories than 2,000 or 2,500 day to maintain a healthy body weight, the recommended amounts for fat, carbohydrates and protein will change.

11. Calories per Gram: This shows the caloric weight of each macronutrient – Fats, Carbohydrates and Protein. It is best to choose foods that are well balanced, containing all nutrients.

Dramatic Weight Loss™ Center is a place for overweight patients that have come to their wits end. It is music to Dr. Mansfield’s ears when patients say they have tried everything and nothing has worked. Patients tell us that they have often wondered if there was a weight loss program out there that would really work for them.

Have you ever become frustrated because of losing money on promised results that never happen? Are you tired of eating right and exercising everyday without losing weight? Do you feel like a prisoner trapped in your own body and have decided there is no hope for you in your battle to lose weight? Do you know why the body keeps storing fat even though it is harmful to its own survival? Did you know that there is a tried and proven method to force the body to stop storing fat?

Do you know that skipping meals can cause weight gain? The truth is that skipping meals will slow down the metabolic rate. As you know, when we stop eating, within four hours all of our calories are burned up for energy. The body requires calories to maintain the metabolic rate, much the same as gasoline is required to keep a car engine running. When the metabolic rate slows down, so does weight loss. Dramatic Weight Loss™ Center can clear up the confusion regarding all of these misconceptions and help patients lose weight fast, safe and without hunger or cravings.

It is not uncommon for Dramatic Weight Loss™ Center’s patients to lose up to six pounds per week. Dramatic Weight Loss Center reveals to patients the foods that cannot be stored as fat as well as the foods that are always stored as fat. If patients are willing to follow the guidelines of Dramatic Weight Loss Center’s Programs, they too can become one of our success stories, just like the ones shown on our website, www.dramaticweightloss.com. Contact our office at 770-394-9994 or email us at info@dramaticweightloss.com to schedule your free consultation.
