What Body Type Are You?
Did you know that there are three different kinds of body types?
Depending on what body type you have and what you want to accomplish, you might have it easier than someone else. Do you want to be skinny? Then you would be happy having an ectomorphic body type. But if you want to be ripped with muscles, then you may be happy with a mesomorphic or an endomorphic body type. However, all three body types can get into great shape, it is just more difficult for some than others.
Here is a definition of the three body type categories:
Endomorph – The most common body type is the endomorph. Endomorphs gain weight very easily, but they can also lose fat quickly as well as build muscle when they resolve to accomplish it. This body type is more likely to gain fat but is also more likely to be big, strong, and large boned. The key to losing weight for an endomorph is increasing the metabolism. This can be accomlished by consuming 6 – 8 small meals through the day. This also burns additional calories as the body is digesting food.
Mesomorph – A typical mesomorph is someone who is genetically muscular. Mesomorphs are very athletic and are aesthetically pleasing to the eye as look to be in great shape even if they don’t have to train very hard. Mesomorphs are more rare than the other two body types. Mesomorphs can build muscle faster than ectomorphs but also lose fat fasters than endomorphs.
Ectomorph – An ectomorph’s body is like a heater on overdrive – they have a high metabolism. An ectomorph must constantly consume food and even though, the typical ecotmorph is tall and thin and carries little body fat. Ectomorphs have slight builds with narrow hips and shoulders. Ectomorphs are nicknamed “hard gainers.”
Unfortunately nobody fits exactly into one of the three body types, but you can use this as a guide to help figure out which approach you should take to get into shape.
